Meditation Exercises For Everybody


Meditation is easy – if you practice at it. One of the things about meditation that most puzzles people are that there is no way to know if you are doing it correctly. There is also no competition in meditation, so how do you know if you care meditating better than the average meditators? Some people really like to make their lives a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Here are some meditation exercises for everybody, no matter what your religion (or lack thereof).

Drink A Cup Of Tea


Go through making yourself a cup of tea (or coffee, if you prefer) and drink it, but do it mindfully. Meditation exercises help you stay in the moment, giving your full attention to one thing at a time. When you make a cup of tea, do so mindfully. Pay attention to what all of your tea mugs look like, feel like, how they shine in the light. Do all of the making and drinking of your tea in this state of mindfulness.

Watch Waves


Perhaps you have a wave machine, a lava lamp or are near the beach. Go and watch the waves. Just watch the waves. Think about nothing else except the waves. This mediation exercise is good for people who tend to fall asleep during any meditations that involve shutting your eyes. The mind is like the ocean, or lava lamp. A thought, like a wave, rises from nowhere, becomes fully formed, and then crashes back into nowhere. Do this meditation exercise for as long as you are comfortable with it.

Listen To Your Favorite Music


Perhaps there is a piece of music or a particular singer whose voice makes you feel as if you are being transported to another world. That's the music you want to listen to in this meditation exercise. Sit comfortably – but try not to go to sleep. You can keep your eyes open or closed. Unplug the phone if you have to so you are not disturbed. Listen to the song, record or tape and just listen. Imagine you are listening to this incredible music or singer for the first time. If you start getting emotional, let the emotions come.

In all of these meditation exercises, you are actually meditating. Anytime you practice mindfulness is a meditation. There really are no limits when it comes to meditation. It is a powerful tool that can be incorporated into almost every moment of your life.
